This week in Asbury Kids 3rd – 6th grade class, we finished up our four week series on focus! During the series we learned how to stay focused on Jesus by remembering what He saved us from, keeping our eyes on Him, avoiding distractions, and keeping our eyes on the path that lies ahead! The children did such an amazing job the last four week! I am very proud of them!!!
We studied 2 Corinthians 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
We had several activities. First we played a game called concentration. We sat in a circle and had to say a word from topics such as books of the Bible, animals and food. Each player had to keep the rhythm by saying a word (clap-clap-clap) then the next player said a word (clap-clap-clap) If a player hesitated or repeated a word already used they has to sit out until there was one winner. We also watched a video where the children were asked to concentrate on how many times a team dressed in white uniforms made a pass with a basketball. There was also a team in black passing a ball at the same time. They were so focused on counting the passes made by the team in white, they missed the moon-walking bear come across the screen. What laughter we got when we watched the replay!
Little Asbury Kids 4-7 years old had quite a night as well! They learned that you need EVERY piece of a puzzle to make it complete and how each one of them are important to our church, class and families! They enjoyed ice cream treats and playing together as a group. They learned it’s much more fun to play together than alone.
Each week both classes meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm and have a craft or activity, a snack and time of fun and fellowship.
Asbury Kids are AWESOME!
