Children

Welcome to Asbury’s Children’s Ministries! Our children’s ministries are focused on birth through 6th grade. Our dedicated and trained staff make learning about Jesus fun and safe for your children to grow in their spiritual walk.

Each Sunday morning we offer our children’s church called JAM (Jesus and Me) for children 3-12 years old at 8:45am at 11am. We offer a Bible story, a snack, a craft or activity, and a time of prayer.

Sunday School

Preschool- 3 years old (potty trained) though Kindergarten begins at 10am in Room 123. In a nurturing environment, we lay the groundwork for our children’s Christian faith. Our current curriculum is Gospel Light which incorporates Bible stories, arts and crafts, and active games into a lived-faith experience that will help children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today!

1st through 3rd grade begins at 10 am in room 121. We use age appropriate curriculum to get kids excited about learning God’s Word! Our Sunday school offers a Bible lesson, craft and snack all in a safe and nurturing classroom!

4th through 6th grade begins at 10 am in room 2. Teachers Lynn Dole and Jeff Blasdell take your children on a spiritual journey with the Adventure Bible where kids can discover the treasure of God’s Word through a Bible story, activity and craft.

Nursery Frequently Asked Questions

We are excited for you and your family to be at Asbury. If there is anything you need, or have any questions please feel free to contact the church office at asbury@asburycolumbus.org.

Who, When, and Where?

The nursery is available Sunday mornings from 8:30am to 12:15pm for babies to 3 year old’s who are not potty trained. The nursery is located in the Green Room, in the hallway just outside of the Contemporary Worship Center.

First time for dropping off your child in the nursery?

Please fill out the Emergency Contact form when you drop off your child(ren). A nursery caregiver will give you a pager that will be utilized in the event that you are needed in the nursery.

What’s with the pager?

We will page you if you are needed in the nursery. We have found they are less disruptive than coming in and getting you, it also allows us to notify you no matter where you are in the building.

Do I need to leave anything with you?

Please bring in diapers and any food that your children will need for the morning. We provide a snack, toys, highchairs, and cribs/swings.

Please be aware that the nursery staff will provide a snack from Asbury unless given specific written instructions otherwise. Food that is given to the nursery staff should not require refrigeration or heating. However, you are welcome to bring a bag or lunch box that has ice or hot packs.

Where can I nurse or bottle feed?

We welcome you to nurse or bottle feed anywhere at Asbury. We have a Nursing Area located in the Prayer Room (located between the Sanctuary and the doors to the south of the Sanctuary). The door locks for privacy.

Where are the changing tables?

Changing tables are located in the Men’s and Women’s bathrooms upstairs (near the Worship Center), in the nursery (Green Room) as well as the Blue, Orange, Yellow, and Purple rooms.

What does Asbury do to protect my children?

At Asbury United Methodist Church, we have a Child and Youth Protection Policy to implement safety measures to demonstrate our absolute and commitment to the physical safety of all of our children and youth. For more information, visit our Child and Youth Protection Policy.
