Daily Bible Reading: Ezra 7

Ezra arrived in Jerusalem in August of that year. He had arranged to leave Babylon on April 8, the first day of the new year, and he arrived at Jerusalem on August 4, for the gracious hand of his God was on him. This was because Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the LORD and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel. Ezra 7:8-10 NLT
This chapter includes the story of Ezra coming to Jerusalem. Ezra was a devout follower of the Lord. We find in verse 10 that Ezra sought knowledge of the Law of the Lord. This is a good thing. However, Ezra did not stop at his point. Ezra was also determined to obey the Law of the Lord. This is altogether different. It is one thing to seek knowledge. It is quite another thing to incorporate what we have learned into our personal lives.
Consider the Bible studies of which yoou have participated. Was your goal to attain greater understanding of the Bible, of God, of Christ? Those are good things. Even better is to study for the purpose of being transformed by what we have studied.
