Daily Bible Reading: John 15

[1] “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. [2] He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. John 15:1-2 NLT
With these words, Jesus did a couple of things.
First, He defined the relationship between Himself and all of His disciples. He is the vine, and we are the branches. The branches cannot exist apart from the vine. The vine is what holds the branches together. Without the vine, the branches are nothing but mulch.
Second, Jesus made it clear there will be pruning. Branches that produce fruit are made better through pruning. Branches that do not produce fruit are eliminated, disconnected from the vine. We should probably take these words seriously.
Are you ready for some pruning?
Who will you meet today who needs to be introduced to Christ, the vine? What intentional steps are you taking to join with the Holy Spirit to make that introduction?
Who will you meet today, whose whose journey with Christ could be strengthened? What intentional steps are you taking to join with the Holy Spirit to love them, nurture them, encourage them, challenge them, or strengthen them in their relationship with Jesus Christ?
Stay connected to the vine. Open your eyes to see the branches. Bear much fruit.
