Pit Stop (Taco Church)

Pit Stop Mission Statement is: In response to God’s call, Christian servants have a local mission opportunity to serve high school youth an inexpensive lunch in a safe environment.

The Pit Stop is a ministry that started in 2007 serving lunch to the high school students in grades 10, 11, and 12 during their lunch break every Thursday from 11:00-12:30….Up to 4 soft tacos with beef or chicken, grated cheese, lettuce, beans, taco sauce, sour cream, Spicy Ranch dressing, nacho cheese and chips, cookies, and drink. The cost is $4.00.

This opportunity to invite youth to Asbury’s lower level youth area for lunch and Christian fellowship is possible because of the local high schools’ open campus lunch policy and our proximity to North High School.
The Pit Stop Leadership Team recently discussed this question: Will Pit Stop open for the 2020-2021 school year?

The Pit Stop Leadership Team decided……Not yet.

We will revisit the question sometime in the first semester. At that time we will have more information (positive or negative) to help us make an informed decision regarding if and when we reopen.

Pit Stop will not move forward with any plan to reopen without strong evidence supporting that reopening is reasonably safe for both the students and the workers.
