This chapter includes the history of several kings of Israel (the northern tribes). It is interesting to note that in the northern tribes the next king is sometimes a descendent of the previous king. At other times it is the one who kills the previous king who becomes the new king. (This reminds me of the game we used to play as children, king of the mountain, where you would try to stay on the top of a small hill and everyone else would try to push or pull you down so they could take your place.) Both of these are visible in this chapter.
