Read 1 Timothy 2 today.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 NLT
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. [2] Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. [3] This is good and pleases God our Savior, [4] who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
This is a chapter that is fairly controversial because of Paul’s statements regarding the actions and role of women. (He also addresses men, but briefly and with much less restrictive words.) I own the fact that I have not studied this particular chapter in great detail, and I would like to do so at some later date.
The part I was thinking about was the phrase, “lives marked by godliness and dignity.” I wonder if that is part of our prayers for ourselves and our children. Paul prays this for all people. Perhaps we should do the same.
