Read 2 Chronicles 15 today.

2 Chronicles 15:8 NLT[8] When Asa heard this message from Azariah the prophet, he took courage and removed all the detestable idols from the land of Judah and Benjamin and in the towns he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. And he repaired the altar of the LORD, which stood in front of the entry room of the LORD’s Temple.
ASA was the king of Judah, which made him both the national leader and also spiritual leader of his people. He instituted religious reforms throughout the land over which he had authority and some level of control, which was Judah and Benjamin.
As I think about this, it seems there are many of us who are more interested in exercising control over others than ourselves. Our starting place regarding making the world better, aligning the world with God’s will, is typically with other people. We think the best place to begin making reforms is in the lives of other people.
Asa’s reforms began in the areas over which he had control. We should discipline ourselves to do the same thing. We ought to consider the starting place for making the world better, for seeking alignment with God’s will, with ourselves. Perhaps our prayer should be, “I am asking you to make radical changes in this world, and I am asking you to start by making radical changes in me.”
