Read 2 Chronicles 8 today.

2 Chronicles 8:11 NLT[11] Solomon moved his wife, Pharaoh’s daughter, from the City of David to the new palace he had built for her. He said, “My wife must not live in King David’s palace, for the Ark of the LORD has been there, and it is holy ground.”
This chapter includes additional information about Solomon’s accomplishments. In verse 11 we read that he built another palace for his wife, the daughter of Pharaoh. It is as if he recognized the alliance struck with Egypt would not have been something God would approve, so he kept her away from David’s palace. But, this knowledge did not keep him from making the alliance.
Our decisions and actions are often like that. We know something we desire does not align with God’s desire for us, yet we want to pursue it anyway. Then, we create an artificial boundary so we can pretend we can control its influence over us. This approach did not work well for Solomon, nor will it work well for us.
What desires do you have that do not align with the will of God? Have you set up any artificial boundaries to convince yourself your desires are under control?
