Read John 1 today.

This chapter has so many good things, it is difficult to choose one thing about which to write. I always appreciate the account of Phillip bringing Nathanael to Jesus as it describes what we should be doing. Jesus’ attitude of welcoming others to follow Him is also clear in this chapter.
John the Baptist’s role is laid out here. He was ‘simply a witness.’ He was not seeking a greater role, or trying to assume anything more. He understood his role and was content with doing it well. Pointing the way to Jesus was enough for him.
If you look back over your life, who were the people pointing the way to Jesus for you? Who are the people you have encountered for whom you were ‘simply a witness’ to Christ? To whom might you be a witness, pointing them in the direction of Christ today?
John 1:6-8 NLT
God sent a man, John the Baptist, [7] to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. [8] John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.
