Read John 1 today.

John 1:35-39 NLT[35] The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. [36] As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!” [37] When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus. [38] Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” [39] “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.
In this account we read of the calling of Jesus’ disciples. The question asked if Jesus in verse 38 is about where He was staying. As I think of this question, it seems like the kind of question that allows the person asking to keep his options open. Once he knows where Jesus is staying, he can choose whether or not to go there.
Jesus’ response required a higher level of commitment. He invited the the questioner to follow Him, to walk alongside Him, to join Him in a relationship. This is what Jesus does with us. We receive an invitation, not merely to a place (heaven), but to a relationship that leads to the place.
The invitation is still open. Come and see.
