Read John 12 today.

John 12:1-2 NLT[1] Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus-the man he had raised from the dead. [2] A dinner was prepared in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him.
After reading this chapter, my mind kept going back to some of the words in verse 2, “A dinner was prepared in Jesus’ honor.” I am not sure why those words remain fixed in my mind. Perhaps it is because I had the privilege of attending a party yesterday of someone who was celebrating his eightieth birthday. A dinner was prepared in his honor. I noticed there was a lot of effort put into making that event very special. It was not a ‘normal’ gathering. It was specifically planned to honor someone.
I wonder what kinds of things we do to honor Jesus. Do we ever prepare a dinner in His honor? Do we do anything that is beyond ‘normal’ living in Jesus’ honor? What extra effort do we take in order to honor Jesus?
