Read Luke 15 today.

This chapter includes Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son. While nearly everyone had heard this parable, we often forget the context. The religious leaders were complaining because Jesus was associating and eating with sinners, even ‘notorious’ ones. Jesus told the 3 parables in the chapter to illustrate that God desires and actively seeks a relationship with everyone. God’s love for a person is not dependent upon whether or not he/she deserves it, but only upon God’s decision to love.
As we walk through this day, may we notice the backdrop of God’s unconditional love surrounding each person we see.
Luke 15:1-3, 32 NLT
Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. [2] This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people-even eating with them! [3] So Jesus told them this story:
[32] We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”
