Read Matthew 2 today.

Matthew 2:1-2 NLT[1] Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, [2] “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
As I read this chapter again (I sometimes wonder how many times I have read this), I think about the different ways God has revealed Himself and things He is doing. Sometimes it is through a burning bush in the wilderness. Sometimes it is through an angel, visiting in the night. And sometimes it through a star rising in the night sky.
Each of those ways was related to the usual activities of the person who received the message. God sent a message, but the recipient had to be open to hearing from God. And that openness had to be present in the life of the recipient during the ordinary activities of life. It is rare that God presented His message in a way that could not have been ignored. The recipient had the option to ignore the message.
I wonder how open we are to a message from God. I wonder if we are so caught up in the every day activities that we would not recognize a message from God. If God sought to get your attention today, would He be able to do so?
