Read Matthew 24 today.

Matthew 24:36, 42-44 NLT[24] “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. [42] “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. [43] Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. [44] You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
In this chapter Jesus is answering questions relative to the destruction of the temple, and His return. While Jesus shared some signs that would point to the events coming to pass, He did not give a precise timetable. Instead, His emphasis was upon continually being prepared.
In our busy schedules, we like to plan our coming events. We like to have the future all laid out. There are some things that need to be planned because they are future oriented. Yet, I think one of the things Jesus was telling His disciples is that taking care of your relationship with God is not something you plan for the future. It is something you do today. What do you need to talk with God about right now?
