Read Philippians 3 today.

In this chapter, one of the things Paul addresses is the question of our ability to earn a right relationship with God. There were those who were arguing that a person needs to do all the right things, in the right order, at the right time to make themselves right with God. In other words, they had to follow all of the Jewish traditions. Paul declared we rely on what Christ has for us rather than on what we do for ourselves.
This is good news for us because if we honestly looked at what we have done for ourselves, considering the whole picture rather than merely the best parts, we would see how far short of the mark we have fallen. So it is good that we do not depend upon the results of our own efforts. It is through our faith in what Christ has done that restores us to a right relationship with God. What Christ has done is more than enough.
Philippians 3:1-4 NLT
Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. [2] Watch out for those dogs, those people who do evil, those mutilators who say you must be circumcised to be saved. [3] For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort, [4] though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more!
