Read Psalm 132 today

As I read this psalm, I wonder about all the interpretations people had imagined for building a sanctuary for the Lord throughout history. From David through Herod, there were grand plans. Even today, there are those who yearn to construct a physical sanctuary or temple. As Jesus was walking up to Jerusalem for that last passover, I wonder what He was thinking about a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Israel.
Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living
Sanctuary for You
Psalm 132:1-5 NLT
LORD, remember David and all that he suffered. [2] He made a solemn promise to the LORD. He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel, [3] “I will not go home; I will not let myself rest. [4] I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber [5] until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.”
Ephesians 2:19-22 NLT
So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. [20] Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. [21] We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. [22] Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.
