Read Revelation 1 today.

This book begins with an explanation of the context, John had been exiled for preaching about Christ when he received this vision. He was commanded to write about what he saw, so it could be shared with others.
Revelation 1:17-18 NLT
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. [18] I am the living one. I died, but look-I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
On Friday, I was with a gathering of Christians, and we sang a song that was new to me. Some of the words were something like this, “We want to see Your glory, we want to see Your power.” I recall thinking at the time, “Are we sure about that? Do we really want to see those things?” Every time someone in the Bible sees God’s glory or power, they do not stand up and sing. They fall on their faces before Him. Every time one of His angels begins a conversation, it starts with, “Fear not!” There is a reason for that.
Do we take the glory and power of God seriously? Or is our mental image formed only by ‘What a Friend We Have in Jesus?’ What response do you think you will have when you see God, face to face?
