Read Revelation 4 today.

This chapter includes some description of the vision that was seen. The writer tried to put the vision into words, but he had no reference point for much of what he saw. This meant he had to compare the vision to things he did know, which results in language and descriptions that are sometimes (often) difficult to understand. Throughout the history of the church, people have attempted to interpret this book with mixed results.
The fact that sincere, intelligent, scholarly, faithful, Christians have been studying these same words for nearly 2000 years and arriving at different conclusions is significant. Perhaps I should not hold onto my opinion related to how best to interpret these words too tightly. And I choose not to declare anyone whose interpretation differs from mine as insincere, or unintelligent, or unscholarly, or unfaithful, or unchristian.
One thing I noticed as I read this chapter is the orientation of the creatures described. They worshipped God. I choose to do the same.
Revelation 4:9-11 NLT
Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), [10] the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, [11] “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”
