Read Zephaniah 2 today.

The first part of this chapter is a directed to Judah. It is a plea to repent, to turn away from their rebellion and their idolatry and turn back to God. This is a response to the tendency of Judah to drift away from God.
This is our tendency as well, and it is one of the themes of the Bible. We drift away from God and begin to experience the consequences of living apart from Him. God continually seeks after us, but we ignore Him. We eventually come to realize our deeper need for a relationship with God, and turn back to Him. We are blessed in our relationship with God, but become complacent and drift away again.
In the midst of this cycle, God did not move. God’s love for His people did not change. Where do you find yourself in this cycle?

Act now, before the fierce fury of the LORD falls and the terrible day of the LORD’s anger begins. [3] Seek the LORD, all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly. Perhaps even yet the LORD will protect you- protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.
Amos 7:7-8 NLT

[8] And the LORD said to me, “Amos, what do you see?” I answered, “A plumb line.” And the Lord replied, “I will test my people with this plumb line. I will no longer ignore all their sins.
