The Path

The Path is: Come. Build. Love.

“The Path” is the expression we use to describe the discipleship path at Asbury. Like any path, there are steps along the way. Additionally, one expects that following a path will lead someplace. The Path at Asbury has steps a person can follow toward becoming a mature, faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us on The Path!

Come – The first step on the path is to Come Worship. It is in worship that we experience God and respond to the grace God has made available to us through Jesus Christ. This is a great first step, but it is not the end of the path.

Build – The second step on the path is to Build Faith. This normally occurs in a smaller group of people than when we gather for worship. In a smaller group, we find a safe place to explore what faith means in the midst of real life. Through life group conversations, studies, and experiences we take steps to trust God and build faith. As we take this step, we are making progress, but there is still more ahead of us.

Love – The third step on the path is when we turn our God given abilities and desires outward, and we actively Love People as the hands and feet of Christ. This is where we notice the people around us, perhaps those whose names we do not know, and intentionally love them as Christ would love them. We meet them where they are, love them as they are, and invite them to join us on The Path.

Gifts and Passions

Ephesians 4:12  Why is it that God gives us these special abilities to do certain things best?  It is that God’s people will be equipped to do better work for Him, building up the Church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity.  (The Living Bible)

By clicking on the link below, you will open a new window to our online Spiritual Gifts and Passions Survey.  You will answer 28 questions to discover how God has gifted you.

For the best results, try to answer in the extremes, either “not at all” or “strongly”, because if you answer everything “little”, “moderately”, or “considerably” you will most likely be average at everything.  So be honest with yourself and answer with conviction and not as you think you should answer.  No one will see your answers but you.

Thank you for taking the time to discover your spiritual gifts and your willingness to help as we strive to grow the Kingdom of God.

Next Steps

After completing your Gifts and Passions Inventory, pray about joining our leadership teams or identifying where you may belong to pour into others.
